12 of our Favorite Books to Add to your Daughter's Library

We all know about the importance of reading to young children. How important it is for intellectual development, enhanced language skills, and critical thinking. Reading also empowers our kids through knowledge and diverse perspectives. It’s no surprise that we want to take the importance of reading a step further and encourage everyone to have a few of these books in their libraries. Reading books to girls with strong female centered stories subtly gives them messaging that will stay with them as they grow. These plots of dreaming big, breaking social stereotypes, and taking care of their bodies allow them the permission to fully be themselves. And THAT is everything!

Here are 12 books to get your Darling Renegade approved library started!

For younger girls:

Dear Girl,: A Celebration of Wonderful, Smart, Beautiful You! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal & Paris Rosenthal

Go, Girls, Go! by Francis Gilbert
I Like Me! by Nancy Carlson
She Persisted Around the World by Chelsea Clinton

Whoever you Are by Mem Fox

Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty

The Care & Keeping of You 2: The Body Book for Older Girls by Cara Natterson
