An Easy and Energizing Morning Routine for Busy Mamas

I believe mornings can set the tone for the rest of the day. I get it, establishing a routine can make all the difference in how you feel and perform.

Yet, I am NOT a morning person. New year, same me!

I’m not able to wake up 30 minutes before my kids. I don’t have time to meditate.  Journaling is not my jam, and the cold weather we have most of the year deters me from sunshine filled morning walks. With three girls, my mornings are chaotic, but I have found some simple but effective self-care things to do to still set my day up for success!

Wake up gently with the HATCH RESTORE 2

  1. I slept on this device for a while (no pun intended), but I finally got one and it Iives up to the hype. Word on the street says the way you wake up can significantly impact your mood and overall wellbeing. Enter Hatch which mimics the natural sunrise, gently nudging you awake with a soft glow. Much better than a blaring alarm in my opinion! By waking up gradually, I find myself more alert and ready (as I can be) to face the day.

  2. Refresh your eyes with UNDER EYE PATCHES
This step might just be pure vanity, but I notice under my eyes look less puffy and my dark circles are reduced! Plus, the patches are soothing and at the very least my skin is getting extra nourishment. It’s a win all around.

  3. Revitalize your skin with an ICE ROLLER
One of the hidden gems in my beauty toolbox is an ice roller. It reduces inflammation, tightens pores, and promotes blood circulation. Applying the ice roller in gently, upward strokes not only wakes me up but leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated. The cold temperature helps reduce my morning puffiness.  And I’ve been known to use it any time of the day! It helps with pesky headaches, and even my girls use it sometimes. I just keep mine in the freezer and use it while wearing my eye patches.

  4. Hydrate and energize with LEMON WATER
Again, word on the street says to have a glass of water first thing when you wake up to kickstart your metabolism. I need ALL the kickstarting I can get, so I add a half of a lemon squeezed into ice cold water and chug. The addition of lemon in water adds vitamin C and antioxidants, boosting my immune system and helping to alkalize my body!

  5. Start the day with love and give your kids a BIG HUG!
I make it a point to give each girl a big hug either when I first see them in the morning or before they get on the bus. My hope is that the hug sets a positive and loving tone for their day, as I know it does for mine!

These are my five simple self-care steps that I’ve added to my morning routine. Busy mom approved! Of course the mornings are still rough sometimes. Three girls (four if you count me) trying to get ready by a certain time...yikes! But, I feel better throughout the day when I incorporate each one of these things.

Let me know in the comments if you do any of these steps, OR if you have one to add.  I’d love to hear about it!
